The Quest For The 0% APR Credit Card

Unsurprisingly, having a 0% APR credit card is the preferred option for credit card owners.

Most people are confused with the terms used by credit card companies.  More often than not, people requesting credit cards just sign their acceptance, without consideration of the terms listed.  This is wrong.   A credit card company’s APR is one of the areas you should be interested in.

What is an APR?  Well, APR is the abbreviated form of the term Annual Percentage Rate.  A company’s APR determines how much interest you will have to pay on your outstanding balance.  The higher the APR, the higher the interest you will end up owing.  If you have knowledge of this simple fact, you will be able to get companies that offer low APR services.

So, is it possible to find a credit card company offering a 0% APR credit card?  Yes it is.  A quick browse of the internet will reveal several companies who are open to this financial relationship.  The question though, is not whether you can find a company with the offer.  The question is “will your application be considered?”

Credit card companies work on the supposition that the card holder will use the card at some point.  They also expect people to wade into the waters of debt — this, after all, is where a significant amount of their revenue will come from the APR.  Unsurprisingly, credit card companies have problems with people paying their bills on time.  For a company to consider awarding you 0 percent APR you will have to be that most rare of customers — an individual with outstanding credit history.  An impressive credit history is a statement of confidence to Companies.  It assures them that you are not likely to take advantage of their benevolence.

However, the 0% APR credit card offers do not usually last for the long term.  Most companies change your APR rate after a set period (usually 12 months).  Despite this, if you retain your good credit history, the rate change is limited to percentages less than 11%.  When selecting a credit card company, make inquiries into the policies of the company, and be sure to read the complicated terms on the paperwork.

There are websites online that will help you finding and comparing the various rates of credit card companies.  Careful research will help you in locating the rates of your choice.  With a good credit history, you will be able to find and apply to companies offering a 0 APR credit card.
