Credit Card Application

Credit card application is an important process for card seekers. The type of credit card Company you select, as well as the options you settle on, will play an important role in your financial life.  Who needs a credit card?  It seems like we all do.  The world of plastic is here and appears to have plans to stick around for quite a while.

Applying for a credit card is a fairly simple process.  Most of the time you don’t even need to go out to look for a credit company.  They’ll find you.  Walking into a Mall; picking up your daily paper; taking some time out to surf the web -- everywhere you go it seems like you always spot a fantastic credit card offer.  The pressure of which company to settle on can sometimes be overwhelming.

It doesn’t have to be.

The recent global recession has taught most people an important lesson.  When it comes to spending money, it pays to spend less.  In the world of credit cards frugality lies in that most sought after of features -- low rates.

The trick is to do the research. You’re never going to find a credit card offer that is advertising its unbelievable credit card features at these unbelievably HIGH rates.  Credit companies, taking the marketing initiative, will always announce that their rates are the lowest and that you can’t get cheaper rates anywhere. Don’t take their word for it.
Don’t blame them either.  They’re doing their job, which is to attract customers.  You simply have to do yours, which is to “do proper research”.  Unbelievable offers might simply be that. Unbelievable.  For instance, you might walk into a supermarket that offers a discount rate of over 20% for using their issued credit card.  Sounds like a fantastic offer.  But then you do your research, and find out that you get to pay really high interest figures on your credit card bills.  All of a sudden the offer loses its attraction.

Credit card transactions do not end with a simple purchase.  They are recorded and saved, and logged into some credit bible with the words “Credit History” written on it.  Credit cards are not something to be experimented with.  There is no “trying different services until I find the right one”.  When you are applying for a credit card, your aim is to find the right credit card company for you on your first swing.  Avoid common habits, like maxing out your credit card as soon as you get it.  If you start out badly and incur high charges and bills on your first card, it will only make it more difficult when looking for another company.   Credit card companies are notably worried about people who have a tendency to spend high and fast, and then not pay their bills on time.  They apply fees and interest accordingly.

The interest rates of a credit company are called the APR. When you are comparing offers, this is an area you should pay a lot of attention too. It is also advisable to research on reviews and past and current experiences of card users. Not everything about a company can be found in the sheets of its guideline, terms and policy documentation. Before you sign on your credit card application take time out and read the lettering of your agreement.

It only takes 5 minutes - shorter than the time reading this article will take.
