Car Loan Application - What You Need To Know

Ok, so you have found the car that you would like to purchase.  Now what?  You need to fill out the car loan application.  Unless, of course, you can afford to pay cash for that car (and most of us can’t).  So how do you go about completing this task?

You need to research lenders in your area.  Contact as many as you can in order to determine who has the lowest interest rate.  You also want to determine who is going to give you the best deal overall, because some lenders may have special offers that you can take advantage of.  You also want to know specifically what type of loan it is.  For example, is it a cash loan for car title or a bad credit car loan?  If it is, you will want to know that.

Keep in mind, however, that as you begin your search for a lender, you need to have your specific needs written down.  You need to be able to tell the potential lender how much you want to finance for your auto loan, for how many months, is it an individual or joint loan, etc. before filling a car loan application

As you look at the lenders that have the lowest interest rates, you are going to want to keep other questions in mind as well.  You want to know specific information related to the loans.  You want to know exactly how long you are taking the loan for.  Will you be penalized if you pay the loan off early?  Is there a grace period if you are few days late on a payment, so that you are not charged late fees?

Once you have selected a lender to go with, you will want to gather some of your personal information.  You will need your social security number, your address, and how long you have lived there, and how much you pay for your mortgage.  You will also need any information that proves where you are employed, and how much income you make.

Remember that, sometimes, you will have to identify where you have worked over the last two years.  You may also need to supply the lender with the names of your supervisors, as well so, be sure to have these on hand.

While you are completing you car loan application, you will want to give the lender any other financial information that is going to help your loan application.  When applying for an auto loan you will want to know what your current credit score is.  You want to be able to explain why it is low, if that is the case.

Because you have already given the lender financial and personal information, you are going to want to given them supporting evidence of this information.  You could provide them with tax documents, pay stubs, copies of your driver’s license, etc.

Once all valid information has been disclosed to the lender, you will submit your car loan application for approval.  Keep in mind that this process may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days.  Do not be discouraged if you do not hear anything right away.  Completing a car loan application can be time consuming, but it is worth it, if you are approved.
