Debt Elimination Secrets: Pay Off Your Credit Card Debts In 10 Easy Steps – part I

If you are up to your eyeballs in credit card debt, it may look like a daunting task for you to get rid of the same. When debts are more than what you earn, it really makes life troublesome. Some people drown in an ocean of hopelessness where they cannot imagine what they would do with their life, let alone with their financial situation. This is where you start seeking help and advice from experts and you end up having lots of little solutions. This may actually create more confusion for you, as you don't know how to implement all those "solid" pieces of financial advice to pay off your debts.

Credit card debt is indeed a BIG problem. So, do not look for little solutions. You do not need any quick fixes. You need a plan - a step-by-step plan that you could execute effectively to deal with your credit card debts. Following is a 10-step plan that will not only help you control your debt situation, it will also help you eliminate the same. I myself have tried out this plan and it has really worked for me. Let's go exploring.

Step I: Make Some Ruthless Alterations To Your Spending

The best solution to combat any debt problem is to earn more and learn to spend less. Therefore, the first step is to make sure that your credit card debts are not going up anymore. In order to ensure this, you will have to make some ruthless alterations to your spending. For example, you can start by deleting your credit card numbers from all online accounts - all of them. In fact, you should delete the account itself unless it is an absolute necessity to retain a particular service. One more thing, instead of using credit cards, use a debit card number - it will make sure that you do not spend "beyond your means".

What is more, it is also important for you to understand that if you are having those cards in your wallet, you are most likely going to use them - the temptation to plastic, you know! Therefore, in order to completely break the habit of using credit cards, you must keep them in a place where you cannot easily access them. Here are some ideas.

  • Freeze the cards in a big chunk of ice in your refrigerator.

  • Smother the cards in a tiny box and throw away the box in a messed up attic.

I am not kidding. I have done it, and it really works.

Step II: Study Your Debt Situation

Now that you have put in place some strong barriers against spending, the next step is to study your credit card debt situation. The objective is to find out the total amount you owe and at what rates. You can do this by digging out the most recent credit card statement. However, if you find it difficult to study these statements and get the information you are looking for, you can simply give a call to your credit card provider and ask for the details. You can even request them to send you an email with all the information. If you don't remember their contact number, let me help you recall - the contact number of your credit card company is available at the back of your card. You need this information to develop that magic plan. So, start preparing the master list that should include- details about the type of credit card (or the company name), current balance on that card, and the current rate of interest. In the later stages, this master list will be a great help for you to decide you priority that which credit card debt you should pay first.

Watch out this place for the remaining steps. In the next part, I will disclose before you how I convinced my credit card companies to lower their rates and how I achieved the success of eliminating my debts in the fastest possible way. Meanwhile, you can use this ultimate debt calculator tool and study your actual debt situation.
