New York, July 4 (FinanceEnquiry.com) – Alec Baldwin, the eldest of the Baldwin brothers working in the industry donated $1million to the New York Philharmonic, the symphony orchestra, just days after his marriage.
The gift is in honor of outgoing President and Executive Director Zarin Mehta.
The ’30 Rock’ actor is a Philharmonic board member and also the host of the radio show, ‘The New York Philharmonic This Week’.
The actor said in a statement on Monday that he had longed for becoming a part of the world of classical music and Mehta helped him to make his dream a reality.
Mehta thanked Baldwin by saying that this gift is latest addition to the continuous support Baldwin is providing Philharmonic with.
Mehta’s 12-year tenure ends after the 2011-2012 season.
The Philharmonic said the gift is a donation of proceeds Baldwin received from a Capital One advertising campaign.
Baldwin tied the knot with Hilaria Thomas, who is Alec’s yoga instructor, in Manhattan on Saturday.
