BP Plc (BP)
BP Plc (NYSE: BP) is a worldwide oil and gas company founded in 1909 as the Anglo-Persian Oil Company, which was then renamed as BP Plc after the merger of British Petroleum and Amoco. It is headquartered in London, the UK.

The company provides fuel for transportation, energy for heat and light, retail services and petrochemical products. It is the third-largest energy and fourth-largest company in the world measured by revenues and oil and gas super majors. BP produces approximately 3.8 million barrels of oil equivalent per day and has 22,400 service stations worldwide.

BP was primarily listed on the London Stock Exchange, while it has secondary listing on the New York Stock Exchange and it is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. As of December 2011, it was the fourth largest company on the FTSE, with a market capitalization of ?87.1 billion.

With the presence in more than 80 countries, BP is active in exploration and production, refining, distribution and marketing, petrochemicals, power generation and trading of hydrocarbons. The company also deals with biofuels, hydrogen, solar and wind power.
