New York, June 27 (FinanceEnquiry.com) – On Wednesday, the final Batman film, ‘The Dark Night Rises’ crossed the $200-million mark at the domestic box office. During midweek, the movie continued to rake in big bucks.
On Monday, the film garnered $19.4 million. Whereas, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ during its first Monday collected $22.5 million and ‘The Avengers’ earned $22.04 million in its first Monday last May. Both of these movies had 3D surcharges as well which are not applicable in the case of ‘The Dark Night Rises’. 3D surcharges helped in boosting their profits.
On Tuesday, ‘The Dark Night Rises’ raked in $17.8 million and on Wednesday collected $13.81 million. After the six days, the grand total from domestic box office now stands at $211,844,000.
Even the midnight massacre tragedy could not stop Batman lovers from watching the last Batman film. Christopher Nolan’s movie has been ranked as the third biggest opening in the US box-office history behind ‘The Avengers and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2′.
According to pre-release audience survey, it movie is expected to collect up to $200 million (£125 million) at the box office.
