2011 Becomes Exceptional Fundraising Year For Rich Colleges
February 15, 2012

NEW YORK, February 15 (FinanceEnquiry.com) - The year 2011 was a very good fundraising year for almost all colleges, though for the elite super rich colleges it was an even better.

The latest annual college fundraising figures disclosed today show that donations made to various educational institutes have risen 8.2% over the fiscal 2011 to $30.3 billion. This is the second time that fundraising revenue has crossed the $30 billion mark, significantly improving many colleges' financial status.

However, it seems like the already rich colleges are getting richer by the boom in fundraising, as almost 27% of the total funds raised were accumulated by the top 20 privileged institutions. At these colleges, fundraising spiked 15.3% than the year 2010. Stanford University tops the fundraising charts by collecting $709.4 million in fiscal 2011, while Harvard ($639.2 million) and Yale ($580.3 million) Universities were the next on the list with MIT ($534 million) to follow. Donations from college alumni increased 9.9% nationally and were responsible for 26% of the donations. Donations from Corporates rose 6.6%, while that from Foundations (29% of total Donations) were up 3.3%
