New York, July 7 (FinanceEnquiry.com) – Hulu LLC Chief Executive Officer, Jason Kilar, is being considered by Yahoo Inc (NASDAQ: YHOO) for its top job, according to the reliable sources. Kilar is among other candidates vying for the job including Yahoo’s interim CEO, Ross Levinsohn.
Yahoo is looking for a CEO who can revive the company and finally end the search as five executives have already tried their hand at the top job since 2009. The drama began when Carol Bartz succeeded co-founder Jerry Yang, but she was fired when the company lost customers and market share to rivals including Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) and Facebook (NASDAQ: FB). Tim Morse replaced Bartz by becoming interim CEO last year. He was succeeded by Scott Thompson who also had to leave in May after failing to correct an error in his academic credentials.
Kilar became CEO of Hulu in early 2008 after serving as an executive at Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN). He was responsible for the growth of Walt Disney Co’s (NYSE: DIS) ABC, Comcast Corp’s (NASDAQ: CMCSA) NBC and News Corp’s (NASDAQ: NWSA) Fox to more than 2 million paid subscribers.
Fred Amoros, board chairman had said after Levinsohn was named interim CEO, that he would like to see Levinsohn become permanent CEO.
California, Sunnyvale-based Yahoo, dropped less than 1 percent to $15.85 at the close Thursday in New York. The shares have lost 1.7 percent this year.
Earlier Thursday, there were reports of Kilar being considered alongside Levinsohn by the board.
