New York, March 20 (FinanceEnquiry.com) – Royal Bank of Scotland PLC (NYSE : RBS) plans to wind down its cash-equities units in Indonesia, South Korea and Singapore starting Tuesday. The move will affect some 70 employees as the UK bank moves toward completing the sale of its Asia operations to Malaysia’s CIMB Group Holdings.
According to RBS, earlier it had plans of selling the entire Asia-Pacific businesses together to CIMB, however, for "commercial reasons" it has agreed not to transfer those units and will instead close them.
RBS retains operations in Taiwan and its Chinese securities joint venture as it will help in supporting its remaining operations in the region.
