New York, July 20 (FinanceEnquiry.com) – Analyst Todd Rosenbluth at S&P CAPITAL IQ has downgraded their ratings on Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ) from HOLD to STRONG SELL. The 12-month target price is set to $40.
In a research note published yesterday, the analyst mentions that the downgrade is based on valuation related to the unchanged target price. The 2012 EPS estimate has been reduced from $2.51 to $2.49 and 2013 has been kept at $2.81.
VZ reported Q2 EPS of $0.64 against $0,57, more than bank’s estimate of $0.63 due to slightly higher EBITDA. Wireless additions and segment profitability have been encouraging, few offsets in the second half have been viewed from new smartphone launches and weaker wireline operations. Though, fundamentals seems better, 2013 P/E of 16x VZ trades at significant premium to S&P 500 and at high end of historical range, the analyst says.
